The membership drive for the new school year is well under way. We'd like to thank Ken Kraut for his years of service and leaving smooth systems in place for us to inherit. We'd also like to thank those of you who took advantage of the early dues discount, as it saves us major records keeping tasks now that the school year is in full swing.
If you did not renew your membership before September 15, dues are now $40 for the year. If you have not renewed your membership, then you are either reading this on the web or in a copy mailed to someone else. You may also find yourself missing information about all-county auditions, workshops, and festival deadlines that are only mailed to WCSMA members. Your students' participation in WCSMA sponsored festivals including all of the All-County events is contingent on their director's membership.
If you have renewed your membership, encourage your colleagues to do the same. Let new members of your staff, local private teachers, and your music vendors also know what WCSMA is all about as well and encourage them to join. Membership registration forms are available on the web page for your convenience.

Welcome back to the new school year! You will be receiving a mailing soon with information on the selection process., and all forms will be available on the snappy new WCSMA website. Please reserve the All-County Festival dates: rehearsals are Tuesday, January 20 and Thursday, February 26 from 3:30-6:30, and the festival date is Saturday, February 28. We'll rehearse the day away before the concert, as usual!
I'm pleased to announce that Pam Simpson (Bronxville) will be conducting the Intermediate All-County Chorus. Here's the "Help Wanted" part of this column, though: we still need an Elementary Chorus conductor, and he/she must be from out of the county. Several highly recommended people have proven not to be available, so any suggestions are welcome - please give me a call or e-mail! Chairpersons are needed for both choruses, and rehearsal sites for the first two dates are still up in the air. Anyone who would be willing to help by chairing or hosting rehearsals, I would love to hear from you!
